Don your best fantasy glad rags or simply come as you are for an evening of fantasy and family fun for Faerie Fest later this month.
Many past favorites will return, including Tinkerbell who will once again be found in the Pirate’s Cove. The Gourmet Peddler’s Wagon (Flutes and Peppercorns), Beulah Mae’s Smoked Meat Wagon, and Faerie Goodie Bags will provide nibbles and more substantial fare in the Pavilion of Epicurean Delights.
Many favorite vendors from years past will be backed, headed up by The Little Shop of Wild Things, along with the Henna Faeries and Fantasy Face Painters for those who wish to bedeck themselves for the evenings festivities.

The fantasy petting zoo, a colony of trolls under the bridge, an Elven Wishing Stick workshop, Bubble Faeries, Faerie Godmothers at the Wishing Tree, Tea with Queen Titania, Faerie Habitat building, and the Pirate’s Cove will offer up a treasure hunt and games, and at around 8:30 when the sun is setting over the park, everyone will gather in the park’s amphitheatre for the Magical Minstrel Show, followed by fairy dancing under the stars.
Admission is mere $1 for kids 12 and under, and at $2 for really big kids (older than 12!); children under 3 will be admitted free. Some activities involve nominal fees, while others are free of charge. Faerie Fest 2011 is sponsored by the Friends of the Library (FOL), and is part of an ongoing effort to bring family-friendly and affordable cultural programming and entertainment to Vinton County.
Faerie Fest 2012 will be held from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, June 23 at Wyman Park in McArthur.
