The Vinton County Air Show will be held at the Vinton County Airport Sunday, September 17 about five miles north of McArthur just off St. Rt. 93 on Airport Road. Signs are posted.
PARKING: Arrive early to get the best parking. A special parking area will be reserved for those with handicaps. Gates are scheduled to open at 9 a.m. A $10 donation will be requested for parking.
FAA SAFETY SEMINAR: Fly in to the airport to take advantage of this once a year training opportunity. The session will be held in the terminal.
BBQ CHICKEN DINNERS: These very popular BBQ dinners will be served beginning at 11 a.m. Dinners are $10 each and include ½ a chicken and generous servings of baked beans and potato salad along with a roll. Soft drinks will be available.
THE VCHS BAND: As has been the custom for many years, the Vinton County High School Band will perform just prior to the beginning of the air show.
VENDORS: Several vendors will be in attendance and will offer their wares throughout the afternoon.
OTHER FOOD OPPORTUNITIES: The Vinton County Band Boosters will have their very popular food area in the rear of the airport’s shelter house.
SKYDIVERS: As the band is concluding its performance, skydivers will fill the sky above the airport.
THE AIR SHOW: The main event will begin at 1 p.m. Bring lawn chairs for your comfort.
THE CANDY DROP: A Candy Drop for the youngsters will be held near the end of the air show. It’s quite a sight to see hundreds of kids racing to the runway to pick-up as much candy as they can find.
AIRPLANE RIDES: Those interested can take an airplane ride following the show. Get your tickets early since the line can get long. The cost is $30 per person.
