They say a picture is worth a thousand words. That’s why the Vinton County Convention and Visitors’ Bureau (CVB) holds a photo contest every year. The CVB encourages amateur photographers to submit their favorite pictures of beautiful scenery, landmarks and people enjoying the community. Pictures may be used later for promoting the county online and in print.

For the second year in a row Ned Hall took the Grand Prize, winning the $250 prize that is sponsored by WesBanco Bank of McArthur.  Ned’s picture caught the eye of our judges because it depicts an important piece of our county’s heritage. It also is pleasing to the eye and unlike any other picture we have seen in the decade since the CVB began holding the contest.

Congrats to Ned Hall who won Grand Prize for his photo “Iron Work Horse.”

Congrats to Ned and thanks to WesBanco for generously sponsoring our prize. Thanks also to everyone who submitted pictures for judging.

We thought you might enjoy seeing other images that placed in the individual categories. Click on each image to see a larger version.

Think you can do better? The CVB will announce the 2013 contest guidelines in the coming weeks. There is no entry fee and you can submit your pictures online at any time. Stay tuned for details!
