Yesterday I posted the list of Christmas in Downtown activities and said that plans for the weekend are final. Turns out that Christmas in Downtown plans are never really final.

We have made a couple of nice additions to the event that I wanted to bring to your attention.

Just last night we were able to confirm that Mr. Frank Bullock of the Sherman House in Lancaster will be here to portray General William Tecumseh Sherman. General Sherman is Lancaster’s most famous son and a major figure in Civil War history. He will stroll the streets of downtown McArthur and chat with folks throughout Christmas in Downtown. You can learn more about General Sherman and the Sherman house by visiting the Sherman House website.

And today we were contacted by “Train on Time,” an Athens company that provides a really neat ride for the kiddos. They have a railroad track for some self-propelled railroad handcars. It’s practically impossible to describe so I will just encourage you to visit their website for info.

I truly believe this Christmas in Downtown will be our best ever. We have so many fun activities planned I hope you will bring your family and friends. Most activities are from 3- 6 p.m. but there are some things starting earlier in the day. A Chinese Auction, a visit with Santa, a tour of Churches and a Civil War era blacksmith shop all begin earlier in the day. Check out yesterday’s list of activities and this post on the tour of historic churches for more information.

When you arrive Saturday be sure to get a program – that contains the list of fun, the $100 drawing card and other great info.
